We visited the Drunken Horse on a beautiful winter evening and were lucky to get a table right away. The staff were incredibly attentive at all times and made sure that both we and our baby had a wonderful evening in the courtyard. The food was absolutely outstanding and very authentic, and the atmosphere was wonderfully romantic — it truly felt like being in the heart of Paris. We would happily come back anytime!
We have made it our mission to try every restaurant in St Augustine and the DH is no exception. A small seating area but the quaintness of the location and the atmosphere makes it special. The servers are legitimately French and very kind. We enjoyed the rojo red wine and French onion soup. Also I had the Ratitui appetizer. Veggies and cheese with a delicious broth. The main entree is rich and filling which was the mushroom risotto. We also tried the brazed beef tips and they are delicious too. The crème brûlée was creamy and sweet. I’m gonna say it was a 4.9 overall. The quantity of food required take home bag. And it was great there too. Enjoy
Amazing place! The best crème brûlée in the world!!! I've tried it in many places, but here it's divine! This is now my favorite place! Excellent wine list and a gorgeous menu! Everything is delicious and filling! Pleasant atmosphere and very friendly staff! Thank you so much!
The best French restaurant my family and I have visited. The slow-cooked short rib, onion soup without question, and sea bass are must-tries. The ratatouille is a perfect 10/10, and the pea risotto is a simple yet delicious dish with perfect balance.
The owner, Azman, offered my group of 5 a table in the back even though we were just getting drinks, after seeing the atmostphere of the back patio and how nice of a restaurant it looked we wanted to eat here. I was visiting for Thanksgiving and we were there on Black Friday when it was extremely busy. Nonetheless, his team accommodated the rest of my family and was able to rearrange tables and chairs to fit all 12 of us! The service alone made this an incredible experience but the food was even better. All around very happy and thankful we came in and was able to eat and discover this place. Must check out for date nights, family night, or even for a drink of as their vibe inside is classy and cozy. Thank you Azman for your flexibility and to Peter our waiter!
We had an amazing experience, everything was just perfect, from the atmosphere to the food and service. Highly recommend! Foie gras was delicious, the sea bass was the best I had in a long time! Roasted duck leg very tender and flavorful! They do a really good job!
This might be my favorite restaurant/wine bar in St. Augustine. The food is always amazing and when the weather gets cooler it's amazing to sit out back outside. The wine is always amazing. The beef beef bourguignon might be the best dish I've had in a long time. Sea bass is amazing. I've never had a bad meal in the four times I visited here. Overall, I was highly recommend this restaurant to family and friends.
This was quite an interesting experience. It was my first time ever having authentic french food, as for my husband he's more knowledgeable about it to the point he can properly pronounce the name of the dishes. I don't think this restaurant is for everyone, at least not for me. You really need to have a certain knowledge of what is being served to you in order to fully enjoy it. I am used to going to other restaurants, seeing that it has some sort of wine sauce and being like ok whatever I can rarely taste it (I do not like the taste of wine on my food at all) so I ordered the beef bourguignon with the bordeaux sauce and oh boy did I taste the wine You can tell they make the marinade in-house, and it's a real delicacy, but perhaps just not for me. Same with the french onion soup, you could taste the wine in it too, and I'm not saying it's bad at all because my husband loved it!! And I am glad I got to try it, the flavor was just not my thing. I swapped my plate with his, which was the pan seared sea bass and that was really good! I read another review saying the sea bass will melt in your mouth and it's so true! It was really good. My favorite thing was the chocolate molten lava cake. It was so delicious and arguably the best I've ever had! It was beautifully cooked, unlike other restaurants where they just throw some chocolate cake and nasty sugary syrup, this molten lava cake was so so good and definitely worth a try. Quality ingredients for sure. For anyone thinking of visiting, the price point of this restaurant might be a little steep, however if you are into quality ingredients and delicious cooking, and as long as you know what you're signing up for, this will be a nice experience. I also want to say I'm pleasently surprised with the service we received. We arrived at this restaurant around 9pm. We were seated outside and we were worried that we might be forgotten about seeing as we were the only party outside, but our server was checking in on us constantly, making sure we had a good experience which we were most thankful for.
